“This judge should be excused and the case dismissed.
“Election interference at its worst!”
“Trump's pattern of attacking family members of the chief law officers and attorneys assigned to his cases serves no legitimate purpose,” Merchan said in his order Monday.
“It merely instills fear in those who are appointed or called to participate in the proceedings that not only they, but their family members as well, are ‘fair game’ for the defendant’s vitriol.”
Trump faces charges of falsifying business records for payments his lawyer Michael Cohen made on the eve of the 2016 presidential election to porn star Stormy Daniels to ensure she did not publicize a sexual encounter.
The case is scheduled to begin on April 15, and is the first-ever criminal trial of a former president.
When asked by reporters if he would take the witness stand, Trump said he would “have no problem testifying.”
