Smorgasburg Miami will be closed — but only for now.
The New York City Weekend Outdoor Food Market, which opened in Wynwood in March 2022, will be closed for about a month, with August 31 as its last day.
Owner Gaston Pecherano, who calls the spot at 2600 NW Second Ave. “Disneyland Food” He said that after two and a half years, it was time for an update.
“We have been working non-stop for the past two years and wanted to use this little break in September to make Smorgasburg the most exciting ever,” he said.
Holiday improvements will include more seating, new landscaping, and perhaps most importantly, more shade. The outdoor market can get hot during Miami's never-ending summer.
The venue is also opening five new spots for vendors wishing to appear each weekend at the market. In addition to the five new spots that will be filled, there are 25 returning vendors, as well as 10 new vendors who have already been confirmed to participate.
The venue is set to reopen the weekend of September 28-29, but before that, it will host the “Hui Hou! End of Summer Luau” on Saturday, August 31. The event will run from 2-10 p.m., with live music after 7 p.m., and vendors will host specials throughout the night.
Smorgasburg Miami is a sister restaurant to the original Smorgasburg in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The smaller Smorgasburg on Lincoln Road in Miami Beach closed earlier this summer.
