Walt Disney CompanyThe new theatrical slate revealed Friday will feature the dynamic duo of The Mandalorian and Grogu, a fifth Toy Story film and one more Tron movie before the end of 2026.

The company's theatrical business has struggled in the wake of pandemic shutdowns and dual labor strikes in Hollywood, with production halted and moviegoers' box office habits changing. All the while, Disney struggled to connect with audiences, exacerbating revenue problems.

Since returning to the helm of Disney in late 2022, CEO Bob Iger has worked to right the ship. He admitted that the quality of her films suffered while trying to pump out a large amount of entertainment content.

Brands like Marvel, in particular, need to be more selective about which parts to produce, he said. At its animation studios, Iger said he would no longer tolerate his company's partners and creative team prioritizing messaging over storytelling.

Disney's updated roster includes many popular franchises, as well as some versions intended for adult audiences.

Notably, the company's “Moana” sequel has been pushed back to July 2026. It was originally scheduled to open in 2025.

“The Amateur,” a 20th century production starring Oscar winner Rami Malek, has been moved to April 2025 from its previous date of November 2024. Nightbitch, a Searchlight feature with Amy Adams, will be released in December 2024.

Disney has announced that one of its 2026 Star Wars films will feature the popular duo from the Disney+ series “The Mandalorian” and revealed that its title will be “The Mandalorian & Grogu.” It is scheduled to be released in theaters on May 22, 2026.

A fifth film, titled “Toy Story,” is scheduled to hit theaters on June 19, 2026, and “Tron: Ares” is scheduled to be released on October 10, 2025.
