Dobbs finished the game 12-of-21 for 133 yards, adding another 25 yards on the ground while showing off his invaluable rushing ability. Not only did the veteran quarterback's performance wow fans, Purdy was also incredibly impressed with Dobbs' performance against the Saints.

So, I love having him in the room, and like I said, he’s very electric.”
After the game, Dobbs expressed his enthusiasm for his performance against New Orleans, explaining that his focus remains on what he can control on the field, leaving the hierarchy of middles to those with power.
“I thought it was a good day,” Dobbs said. “It was a good day to go out there and compete. It’s always fun to get out there and get in that environment. That’s my goal every time I step out there. I go out there and take advantage of my opportunities and let the coaches handle the pecking order and everything else.”
Dobbs has made it clear that no matter what role he plays, his responsibility remains to be ready to step in immediately if the situation calls for it. Whether it’s on the field or cheering on another 49ers quarterback from the sidelines, the veteran signal-caller is committed to doing everything he can to help San Francisco win football games.
“My job is to be ready when my number is called in any role and when Brook is there it’s my job to support him or whoever else is in the game from the touchline, so it was fun to be there, at Levi’s Stadium, wearing the right colour shirt this time from my last experience here, it’s always good to get a win as well,” Dobbs said.
Coach Kyle Shanahan seemed pleased with Dobbs' effort, highlighting the 29-year-old quarterback's ability to improvise and extend plays.
“He did a good job,” Shanahan said of Dubs' performance. “He led us on some offense and scored. He made some plays when there was nothing going on, and I thought it was similar to last week.”
Dobbs' three-game series of action came in the second quarter, as Brandon Allen took over quarterback duties after exiting the first half Sunday after previously starting the 49ers' preseason opener. vs Tennessee Titans Last week.
Shanahan revealed that the order in which Dobbs and Allen appear has no bearing on the current status of the reserve competition, but was predetermined before the start of the preseason.

“Yeah, I thought they did a good job in the practices they had,” Shanahan said. “Dobbs got a chance to play a little bit more and I thought he did a really good job of leading some of those attacks. When Brandon came in, he did the same thing. It was very similar to last week. The games were close, the practice was close. So, it’s a good problem we have right now.”
If the race is indeed close, Dobbs' flashes of brilliance on Sunday could be strong enough to push him into the lead for the backup job, with Friday's preseason finale against the Las Vegas Raiders the chance to put him over the top as the 49ers' roster is formed ahead of Week 1.
