Risks: 8. You've got Veuve He won well at Newcastle two games ago, then had no luck when starting fourth at Gosford. Expect a bold display here. 2. Hiawatha He is an import making his first start after the break here and deserves close monitoring. 5. Donalus He won at Newcastle three times before and has been placed in both rounds since. It should work fine again here.

2. Summons He resumed from a spell at this track last time out for a new stable and hit the line well before reaching his peak late in his career when finishing second. He should have taken advantage of this race and had his chance to do better here.
Risks: 1. Devon County He was bowled over in two of four starts and resumed from the spell here. He was close when finishing third to Doncaster winner Celestial Legend in a recent trial and should have the punching power here. 5. Primo He has finished fourth in all three of his starts and is poised to run well again here, while 4. The cup He made his debut for Anthony Cummings' side and could emerge after a number of trials.
How to play it: Call win.

Risks: 2. Party doll He has a strong record from a lightly raced career. She's back in action for the second time at Newcastle and just needs to put in that effort to be a leading possibility here. 5. Nightingale It led to scoring at Newcastle before being spelled out and is resuming here on the back of a couple of solid trials. It should work fine. 8. Movie star He looks the best among other contestants.
How to play it: Unstopabull win
Race 4 – 3:25pm: Carlton Draft Midway Maiden Plate (1200m)
6. American Star He made his debut at Newcastle and finished second and just needs to repeat that effort to be a leading possibility here.
Risks: 8. The Midnight Affair The midfield was on Newcastle's Beaumont track on appeal and has claims in the effort. 4. Point outward He was put in place two starts ago and hasn't come out of it with a repeat. 5. Adelaide Striker He ran well enough in a trial in December to be rated with a chance for a spot here.
How to play it: The American star wins.
Race 5 – 4:05pm: CANADIAN CLUB 2YO MAIDEN PLATE (1200m)
1. Catoggio He finished fourth in both of his starts in both Melbourne and Sydney stints. He has the talent to give this a jolt.

Hazards: 10. November Falls He is the first of the spell and has a good overall record. She can run well here. 11. Bully for you He won well against Newcastle on Saturday and is in quick reserve form.
How to play it: De Forner in every direction.

3. Flying bandit He ran well on his Hawkesbury debut when hitting the line well. He backed that up with a strong win at Goulburn last time out and is ready to get the job done here.
Risks: 6. Bush Telegraph He was a good winner on his Hawkesbury debut before hitting the line well again over the same track last time out to finish third. She looks to be a talent and deserves to be a top prospect here. 7. Common mission He last scored here against a later winner and deserves a lot of thought again, while 10. Really motivated He resumes from the spell on the back of two experiences.
