Producer Graham King was on hand to bring Lionsgate CinemaCon to a grand close on Wednesday as he debuted the emotional first trailer for the Michael Jackson biopic Michaelthe film will be released in theaters on April 18, 2025. Director Antoine Fuqua is still shooting the film, but a first-look clip has been put together.
“I'm looking forward to giving the audience a thrill like they've never seen before,” King said.
He promised that the film would cover Jackson's career, personal life, and artistic and musical legacy. “It's a movie-worthy story,” King said. “For the first time, fans and generations of moviegoers will come together to get an inside look at the most prolific artist of all time.”
King said the filmmakers tried to “find the untold version of the story.”
“Michael Jackson was an enigma, full of eccentricity and talent,” he said. He was also “just a guy who lived a very complicated life. The film will cover it all including over 30 songs spanning his career…his life on stage and his life outside of the public eye.
King also said that this will be a “feature film.”
The footage begins with scenes of screaming fans and clips of Jackson as a young boy whose mother tells him: “There may be some people who think you're different and that will make life a little harder for you, but you were never like him.” any other person.”
In voiceover, the adult Jackson says of the performance, “It channels your whole being, and that's what I want the world to feel — magic.”

The photo shows it all — from Jackson's childhood days in snowy Gary, Indiana, to a Jackson 5 performance and fans protesting the King of Pop as he sat in a limo.
