Swedish band ABBA has asked US President Donald Trump to stop using their music at campaign rallies, but the Republican presidential candidate's campaign says it has permission to do so.
“ABBA recently discovered the unauthorized use of its music and videos at a Trump event through videos that surfaced online,” the band said in a statement to The Associated Press. The band’s hits include “Waterloo,” “Winner Takes All” and “Money, Money, Money.”
“As a result, ABBA and its representative immediately submitted a request to remove and delete this content. No request was received; therefore, no permission or license was granted.”
A Trump campaign spokesman said the campaign had a license. “The campaign had a license to play ABBA’s music through our agreement with BMI and ASCAP,” the spokesman told The Associated Press.
ABBA has joined a long list of artists who have objected to Trump using their songs. Ahead of the 2020 election, they included Bruce Springsteen, RihannaPhil Collins, Pharrell, John Fogerty, Neil YoungEddie Grant, Panic!
