Obama's brown suit didn't have many fans, and the color has since become unsafe in the White House as it was seen as unserious. But Kamala Harris wore the same color on the first day of the convention, breaking with the traditional red, white and blue.
Barack Obama acknowledged Kamala Harris's tan suit, posting a post titled “How it started and how it's going.” Obama wrote, “10 years later, the suit still looks great!” and shared a link to voter registration.
But there was no scandal when Kamala Harris wore the brown suit this time? Why? According to experts, Kamala’s choice was a statement, a mockery of the Republicans who frowned at Obama 10 years ago. When Harris adopted the questionable brown suit, it became a shield for her, showing that she was fearless.
In an op-ed for NBC, Hannah Holland wrote that Harris's fashion choices largely reflect her presidential candidacy. “Harris demands respect in her own way. And she's perhaps the most radical and revolutionary of all: She looks beautiful. And she looks presidential,” she added.
“The brown suit signaled that he would do things his way. It signaled that he was that change. Ten years later, Americans still want change they can believe in. Despite her policies, her record, and her personal beliefs, Harris, as a strong black and Indian woman, will never be inside the beltway. Indeed, Harris’s fashion choices will be analyzed in ways that Barack Obama never could have imagined,” Hannah wrote.
