Alan Ritchson has seriously revealed he attempted suicide after falling victim to multiple sexual assaults.

“I Hang Myself,” the actor who has appeared in such series as “Blue Mountain State,” “Smallville” and “Black Mirror,” currently stars in the Prime Video series “The Reacher.” He told The Hollywood Reporter In a profile published on Wednesday.

It was attempted in the attic of his home in Encino, California using a green extension cord. “It all happened so fast, I was just dangling there,” he recalls.

However, Ritchson made a last-minute decision to pull himself up before losing consciousness after seeing a vision of his sons, Calem, 11, Aidan, 10, and Amory, 8, in their mid-30s.

He pointed out: “They calmly asked me not to do this, and told me that they wanted me to be here alive and part of their lives.” He shares his children with his wife of nearly 20 years, Katherine Richeson.

Ritchson, 41, said he sought help immediately after the troubling incident, which led to him being diagnosed with bipolar disorder at the age of 36. A few years later, at age 40, he learned that he also had ADHD.

He explained that his suicide attempt came after years of sexual assaults that followed him from the modeling industry to the world of acting and “broke him.”

“There are very few useful qualities to work in [the modeling] industry. “Let's be honest, it's like legal sex trafficking.” “The industry is not regulated, and it is a widely known secret that if you are hired for a job, you will be taken to a photographer to be trafficked.”

“The number of times and situations where I was placed in horrific environments where sexual assault was the goal and the paycheck I desperately needed to survive was the carrot, I can't count on two hands. It was too many times.”

One alleged incident led to the father of three leaving the modeling world for good.

“I had a photo shoot booked by this very famous photographer,” he recalls. “I was sent to a hotel room to do a striptease with the promise that if I did the shoot, he would offer me a very lucrative campaign for a magazine and clothing line. I was sexually assaulted by this man.”

Later, when he successfully moved into the television and film industry, it was dealt another devastating blow that led to the deterioration of his mental health.

Ritchson said he was in business meetings all day with someone who partnered with him on a film fund they had high hopes for, but things turned sour when his partner threatened him.

Although the threats never amounted to anything, the previous model was devastated by what happened. “I was very depressed and didn't know how to deal with it,” he explained. He attempted suicide shortly after.

“I came out of this whole thing asking myself, 'Okay, if I'm going to choose to stay here — which is a decision we all make, some to a greater degree than others — what do I do? Why am I here?'” he recalls.

“What I kept relying on was the meaning and purpose of life as someone who believes there is a Creator and that we are created beings, and our purpose in life, without qualification, is to make the world a better place and serve others.”

“This is what life is all about.”
