Three men have been jailed for 30 years after a 'fake Rolex' assault that resulted in the victim losing an eye.

The 45-year-old victim was assaulted by three men who robbed him of his fake Rolex watch.

The man lost one eye in the southern attack Wales Police say it had a “devastating” impact on his personal and professional life.

Thierno DeLallo, 20, of Riverside CardiffAbdul Ismail, 20, and Mubarak Yusuf, 21, both from the city's Grange Town area, were sentenced last week.

After the accident, Ismail filmed himself with a watch and posted the pictures on Snapchat.

The victim was helped by a local resident who then reported the incident to the police.

Detective Constable Ellery Powell, of South Wales Police, said the victim was lured to Louisa Place in Cardiff Bay during a night out in May 2022.

Officers say Ismail and Youssef were arrested and charged within a month, but Dillallo was arrested on his return to the UK after fleeing the country.

She added: “The victim was impaired by alcohol, and we believe they targeted him because of his watch, which they may have thought was an authentic Rolex.”

“He was attacked with a bottle and despite the best efforts of medical professionals, unfortunately his eye could not be saved and had to be surgically removed.”

The three defendants were found guilty of grievous bodily harm and robbery after their trial at Cardiff Crown Court in January.

Youssef was sentenced to 10 years in prison, while DiLallo and Ismail were sentenced to 10 years in an institution for juvenile offenders.
