Republicans said Harris was out of touch with the message, and thus offered authority from words.
“Kamala is uniquely awful. She's not smart, charming or talented. The more voters hear her voice, the less they want to support her. It's all downhill from here. Keep the faith,” wrote radio host Buck Sexton on Channel X.
“This is why Kamala is not allowed to speak off-script, my God. Does anyone know what she is talking about here?!” wrote photojournalist Nick Sortor.
“In case you were wondering why Kamala was kept out of interviews and in front of teleprompters only…” GOP communications director Matt Whitlock posted.
“We are strong and fragile,” Washington Post columnist Mark Thiessen quipped.
Republican vice presidential candidate J.D. Vance shared another impromptu response from Kamala Harris to a question about her recently unveiled economic policies, saying that Harris can't answer basic questions about how she plans to pay for her agenda.
“When we increase homeownership in America, what does that mean in terms of increasing the tax base, let alone the property tax base, and what does that do to school funding? I think it’s a mistake for anyone talking about public policy not to critically evaluate how we measure return on investment,” Harris said when a reporter asked her how she would pay for all of her policy promises.
