president Joe Biden He was due to speak at 9.50pm on Monday but his speech was delayed as Hillary Clinton and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez appeared to take longer with their introductory speeches, ultimately pushing Biden’s farewell address past prime time. The delay reportedly led to a drop in live coverage of the president’s address as it ended after midnight – in New York. Biden may have been trying to put the “Democrat coup” behind him but the timing of the DNC dealt him a fresh blow. A longtime Biden aide told Axios it was “terrible.”
“This is terrible. He literally put together a campaign and handed it to them — should they cut him from prime time?” the aide said.
Convention officials said the delay was due to cheers from the crowd and a delay that caused two speakers to be interrupted as officials wanted to introduce Biden without further delay. “Due to the loud applause that interrupted speaker after speaker, we ultimately skipped elements of our schedule to ensure we could reach President Biden as quickly as possible so he could speak directly to the American people,” convention officials said in a statement about pushing Biden past prime time. “We are proud of the electric atmosphere in our convention hall and proud that our convention showcased the broad and diverse coalition behind the Harris-Walz ticket all week long, both on stage and off.”

“I’m giving up — I can’t stay up this late, we all have lives and kids,” former “View” host Meghan McCain wrote on “X Monday.” “I wish our 81-year-old president could make it through this hour. Whatever the producers did to him and let him go on for so long at this hour is disrespectful to Biden.”
“The Democrats kicked Joe Biden out of the race and now they won’t even let him speak until after 11pm ET on the first night of the convention. They are diabolical. They are evil and they are playing to win,” wrote Clay Travis, founder of OutKick, ahead of Biden’s speech.
