The famous hat worn by the “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom” star sold for $630,000 at auction on Thursday alongside memorabilia from the “Star Wars,” “Harry Potter” and “James Bond” films.
There were 37 bids for the famous hat, which was won by Harrison Ford, who played the brave archaeologist, Dr. Henry Walton “Indiana” Jones Jr. According to the auction house Props store.
The film, directed by Steven Spielberg, was released in 1984 and was nominated for two Academy Awards. Total income was $333,107,271. All over the world. The film was shot in India in 1935. The auction house said the hat was worn by Ford or his stunt double, American actor Dean Ferrandini, in many of the film's most famous scenes, including the yellow raft on the snow-covered mountain, as well as in the river scene.
Ferrandini, who worked on more than 100 films and shows during his career, died last year. The hat came from his collection. The BBC reported.
The hat was made in London by the Herbert Johnson Millinery Company and was worn on Jones' head as he raced from London to Sri Lanka and then on to the United States, where the film was shot. The auction house said the headband bears Jones' initials “IJ” in gold, a feature that was applied to hats made for the original three Indiana Jones films.
The hat was made of black rabbit felt, featured a dark brown ribbon and leather headband, and included a more pointed crown than the previous film.
Another Temple of Doom fedora sold at auction in 2021 for Just over $431,000including buyer's premium, according to the auction house.
