A man was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol Sunday when police in South Windsor alleged he was driving an uninsured vehicle under the influence of alcohol against court orders from previous arrests for driving under the influence of alcohol.
Agustin X. Rayro, 47, of Windsor, faces charges of violating the terms of his release, driving under the influence, improper use of a license plate, driving without minimum insurance and driving under suspension, according to the South Windsor Police Department.
Police said he was arrested at 4:20 a.m. shortly after officers responded to the area of ​​601 John Fitch Boulevard on a report of a person sleeping in his car with the door open. Officers spotted the vehicle as the driver attempted to leave the area.
According to police, the driver has been identified as Reiro, who is suspected of being under the influence of alcohol. He reportedly agreed to undergo several field sobriety tests, which officers claim he failed.
Officers also found that a judge had ordered Rayro not to drive after his arrest for driving under the influence, and his license was suspended, according to police. He also had no insurance, according to police.
According to online court records, Manchester police officers arrested Rayro and charged him with driving under the influence on Dec. 13, 2023. On March 31, Manchester police arrested him again on a DUI charge and charged him with driving under the influence, according to records. Windsor Locks police also arrested Rayro on June 25 on DUI and other charges.
These cases remain pending in the superior courts in Hartford and Manchester.
Following the incident on Sunday, Rayro was taken into custody and released on $500 unsecured bail. He is scheduled to appear in Manchester Superior Court on September 16.
